I was selected to be the caretaker of AALIVEFA’s mushroom farm. This was built last year with the assistance of KAISAHAN. KAISAHAN linked us with DOST and Trophy Farm who provided the materials and training on mushroom production as a support service for ARBs. That’s how I learned about mushrooms because I never had an experience on mushroom farming before.
AALIVEFA is paying me everyday for my work here in the mushroom farm. Basically, my role here is to man the farm. I maintain the production house. I water, harvest, pack, and store the mushrooms. I deal with customers who wants to buy some mushrooms. I do this, while my father took care of the land awarded to us through CARP. We have rice, banana, cacao, and coffee plants in our farm.
Being the caretaker of this mushroom farm has been really helpful for me. I really like what I am doing. I learned a new skill. I was able to afford paying social services like SSS. I can drink coffee 3 times a day-something I cannot do before. Because I really like coffee. //
